Tibyaan is built so that your Quran reading and learning stays yours. Most information never leaves your device; what is shared is kept to a minimum, protected, and never sold. This policy explains exactly what happens to your information.
Tibyaan is operated by Tibyaan LLC, a Wyoming, USA company. This policy covers the Tibyaan Quran app (iPhone, iPad and Android), the Tibyaan online services that support it, and this website. We provide Tibyaan free of charge to students, families and casual readers. We do not show ads, and we do not sell or rent personal information.

Most of what you do in Tibyaan never leaves your phone or tablet. This includes:
We cannot see this data. You can delete it by deleting a profile or removing the app. If you choose to export a backup, the app creates an encrypted backup file and you decide where to keep it (for example in your own iCloud Drive or Google Drive).
Some optional features use the microphone, and only after you allow it:
Spoken letters in Learn to Read use your device's built-in text-to-speech voice. These features never grade pronunciation automatically; a teacher or parent makes those judgements.
A family circle lets a learner's helpers, such as a grandparent or teacher on their own phone, see and add mistake marks, voice notes and "ready to recite" requests. Circles are optional.
Khatm Circles (reading the whole Quran together, shared by a link) are separate from family circles and are not encrypted, because everyone with the link should see them. Anyone with a circle's link can see its title, intention, which parts are taken or read, and the display names readers choose (a name is optional). We do not ask for an email address or phone number. Your place in a circle is kept by a random claim token stored on your device, in the app or in your browser's local storage on tibyaan.ai; our server keeps only a scrambled (hashed) copy. Finished circles are deleted 90 days after they end, and inactive circles after a year.
If a school or teacher invites a learner to a class, the app connects to our school service. To make classes work, we store on our servers:
We use this data only to provide the school service. Schools and teachers manage their classes; we keep this data until the school or teacher deletes it, or until you ask us to delete an account. Personal reading and memorization progress stays on the device unless a student chooses to submit something to a teacher.
For schools and academies that subscribe, we store the institution's billing contact, billing email and subscription status to manage the subscription. Payments are processed by Stripe.
Shared data is stored in the region you choose in the app, and the two regions are kept separate:
We do not copy data between regions. Server backups are encrypted before they leave the server and are kept for up to six months so that we can recover from failures.
When you download or stream Quran recitation audio, translations or other content, your device requests those files from content providers such as EveryAyah.com and Tanzil.net. Like any website, these providers can see your device's IP address and the file requested. We do not send them any personal information.
Tibyaan is designed for learners of all ages, including young children. Core reading and learning features need no account and no personal information.
We use a small number of providers to run Tibyaan. They process data only on our instructions:
No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify affected users and authorities as the law requires.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, US state laws such as the CCPA, or COPPA for children under 13), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email privacy@tibyaan.ai. We will respond within the time the law requires and will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. Because much of your data is only on your device or end-to-end encrypted, we may be unable to access it; in those cases you can delete it directly in the app. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
This website is a set of static pages. It has no sign-in, analytics or advertising trackers. Its only forms are the school billing page, which sends a school's billing code, number of students and billing email to our server in that school's region so that Stripe can take payment, and Khatm Circle pages (tibyaan.ai/k/...), which send the part you pick and the optional name you type to our server in that circle's region. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser shares standard request information (such as your IP address) with Google and with our website host when you visit.
We will update this policy when our apps or services change, and change the date at the top. If we make significant changes, we will let you know in the app before they take effect.
